چکیده

Abstract In this paper, the effect of microstructure a thick-walled rotor shaft for wind turbines on fracture toughness properties has been investigated. The relevant nodular cast iron grade EN-GJS-600-3 was processed using chill casting technology. Due to different solidification conditions over wall thickness, heterogeneous microstructures were formed. To illustrate influence gradient caused by technology, specimens taken from sample positions in cross section component. A detailed metallographic analysis revealed essential differences microstructure. crack growth resistance under quasi-static loading and fatigue propagation cyclic measured. results static mechanics investigations that is strongly influenced pearlitic ductile grade. On other hand, showed complex formation only minor threshold value, but significant stable growth. For assumed load cases, it shown can be dominant factor mechanical properties.

Effects of Silicon on Mechanical Properties and Fracture Toughness of Heavy-Section Ductile Cast Iron

The effects of silicon (Si) on the mechanical properties and fracture toughness of heavy-section ductile cast iron were investigated to develop material for spent-nuclear-fuel containers. Two castings with different Si contents of 1.78 wt.% and 2.74 wt.% were prepared. Four positions in the castings from the edge to the center, with different solidification cooling rates, were chosen for micros...

Influence of Nb on the Microstructure and Fracture Toughness of (Zr0.76Fe0.24)100−xNbx Nano-Eutectic Composites

The present study demonstrates the evolution of eutectic microstructure in arc-melted (Zr0.76Fe0.24)100-xNbx (0 ≤ x ≤ 10 atom %) composites containing α-Zr//FeZr₂ nano-lamellae phases along with pro-eutectic Zr-rich intermetallic phase. The effects of Nb addition on the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties under compression, bulk hardness, elastic modulus, and indentation fractur...

Characterisation of the Cyclic Deformation Behaviour of the Nodular Cast Iron ASTM 80-55-06 on the Basis of Physical Measurement Methods

The current paper is focussed on the nodular cast iron ASTM 80-55-06 (EN-GJS-600). The individual microstructure was investigated by light and scanning electron microscopy as well as micro-hardness measurements. Stress-controlled fatigue tests were performed at ambient temperature with testing frequencies of f = 5 Hz and f = 150 Hz. The cyclic deformation behaviour was characterised by means of...
